I'm excited to share some personal news with my community. Many of you are aware that my academic journey at Imperial College London began unconventionally through a crowdfunding campaign. This endeavor, though challenging, has been immensely rewarding, supported by a network of incredible individuals who helped fund my early years at the college. This journey has been a testament to hard work, perseverance, and the kindness of the online community.
Today, I am thrilled to announce that I have been accepted as Amelia Earhart Fellowship. This prestigious fellowship, dedicated to empowering women in STEM from developing countries, offers support to kickstart and advance academic careers. Thanks to this fellowship, I will be transferring my research to the National University of Singapore to complete my PhD.
The Amelia Earhart Fellowship was established in 1938 in honor of famed pilot and Zontian, Amelia Earhart. The US$10,000 Fellowship is awarded annually to up to 30 women pursuing Ph.D./doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering and space sciences. It may be used at any university or college offering accredited post-graduate courses and degrees in these fields.
Since the program’s inception in 1938, Zonta has awarded 1,734 Amelia Earhart Fellowships, totaling more than US$11.6 million, to 1,305 women from 77 countries.
